Entertaiment Articles

Anything affording pleasure, diversion or amusement; agreeable occupation for the mind: for example, solving a crossword puzzle is an entertainment. Entertaining activities are often linked to leisure, although some can also have an extreme or highbrow purpose, such as a rite, party, non secular pageant or satire.

One of the most powerful forms of entertainment is storytelling – for example, the story of Scheherazade from Persian professional storytelling tradition has inspired many different mediums, including orchestral works by Rimsky-Korsakov, Ravel and Szymanowski, a film by Pasolini, and a innovative video game. Children’s entertainment is important for their development because it models adult behaviour (such as watching performances); teaches them about social interaction (through play with dolls or pets); and develops motor skills needed for sports and music.
