Entertaiment is entertainment on any scale – from an individual choosing a piece of recorded music for private amusement; to a dinner party accompanied by appropriate entertainment; to performances for thousands of people and even a global audience. Entertainment is often amusing, although it may also have serious purposes such as ceremony, religious festival, or satire. A well known example of the power of entertainment is Scheherazade, the famous story in the professional storytelling tradition that was retold many times: by composers such as Rimsky-Korsakov and Ravel; by director Pasolini; in films and in innovative video games.
